There are moments in an organization's journey that feel quiet on the outside — but carry real weight behind the scenes.
Becoming an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit is one of those moments.
On April 11, 2025, Fourth POV, Inc. received its designation as a federally recognized nonprofit organization. It is a milestone that matters — not because of the label itself, but because of what it makes possible.
It signals that this work is not temporary. It signals that this vision has structure behind it. It signals that our commitment to literacy, storytelling, and opportunity is here to stay.
For the community, it means access.

It means the ability to build programs intentionally and sustainably. It means creating consistent spaces for youth and families to grow as readers, writers, and creators. It means partnering more deeply with schools, organizations, and community leaders who are already doing important work on the ground in Hartford.
For supporters and funders, it means readiness.
Fourth POV is now positioned to receive tax-deductible contributions, pursue grant funding, and build partnerships that allow this work to scale responsibly. Every dollar invested is not just supporting an idea — it is supporting a structured, mission-driven organization with a clear focus and a documented commitment to the communities we serve.
And that focus remains unchanged.
The need that sparked Fourth POV is still here. Students are still navigating gaps in literacy. Communities are still searching for spaces where creativity, healing, and expression are valued. Aspiring writers and entrepreneurs are still looking for pathways to share their work, own their work, and build something from it.
This milestone allows us to respond more fully.
It allows us to expand access to programs that center literacy as a foundation — but don't stop there. Programs that connect reading to writing, writing to confidence, and confidence to real economic opportunity. Programs designed for the people in our community who have been told, directly or indirectly, that those opportunities were not built for them.
It also allows us to think long-term.
Because meaningful impact does not come from one-time efforts. It comes from consistency. From showing up, building trust, and creating systems that outlast any single moment or initiative. That is what sustainable community work looks like — and that is what Fourth POV is committed to building.
This milestone is not an endpoint. It is a foundation.
With this designation, Fourth POV is better positioned to do exactly what it was created to do — expand access to literacy, elevate community voices, and create real pathways to ownership through storytelling and publishing. We are building something sustainable, thoughtful, and rooted in the community we call home.

The work is just beginning. And we are grateful you are here for it.
