Erwin T. Hurst, Sr. - Founder

Erwin T. Hurst, Sr. is a Hartford native, business owner, and author who has spent his career at the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, and community impact.

His commitment to literacy began with a simple but urgent realization—too many children, especially in underserved communities, are falling behind in reading, writing, and self-expression. What starts as a gap in literacy often becomes a gap in confidence, opportunity, and long-term outcomes.

That understanding became the foundation for Fourth Pov, Inc.

Through his work as Chair of the Achievement First Hartford Academy Board of Directors and Chair of the Economic Development Commission for the Town of East Hartford, Erwin has seen firsthand how education, access, and opportunity are deeply connected. Fourth Pov was created to address those connections directly—using literacy, storytelling, and publishing as tools to build confidence, voice, and pathways forward.

As an entrepreneur and author, he believes that ownership matters—that every young person deserves not only to learn, but to create, to be heard, and to see their ideas take shape in the world.
