Why Volunteer with Fourth POV
Volunteering with Fourth POV is not about showing up and checking a box. It is about showing up consistently for young people who need to see adults who believe in them — and then staying long enough to watch something change.
We are a lean, community-rooted organization which means every volunteer makes a direct and visible difference. You will not get lost in bureaucracy here. You will get put to work doing something that matters

What Volunteers Do
Fourth POV volunteers support our work in several meaningful ways. Some lead or co-facilitate creative writing workshops with youth. Some serve as mentors to young writers working on their first published piece. Some support our events, outreach, and community engagement efforts. Some bring professional skills in areas like graphic design, photography, social media, legal, or finance that help the organization run more effectively behind the scenes.
No matter your background — if you care about literacy, creativity, and community, there is a role here for you.
What We Ask of Volunteers
We ask for consistency above everything else. Young people need to see you show up. Beyond that we ask for a minimum commitment of one session per week during an active program cycle, a willingness to be trained in our approach and values, respect for the communities and young people we serve, and an open mind — because this work will teach you as much as it gives.
Who Makes a Great Volunteer
Fourth POV volunteers come from all walks of life. Teachers, writers, artists, business owners, parents, retirees, college students, and professionals of every kind have found a home here. What they share is a belief that every young person deserves access to their own voice — and a willingness to help make that happen.
No prior nonprofit or teaching experience is required. Just bring yourself, your skills, and your commitment.
