Fourth Writers Room

The Fourth Writers Room is a multi-week creative writing program designed to ignite imagination, build literary confidence, and foster authentic storytelling. Whether students see themselves as future authors or simply want to explore their voice, this program is built to meet them where they are and guide them forward. Sessions are 90–120 minutes each and run weekly for 6–10 weeks depending on format.

This is not a classroom. It’s a community—where reading meets writing, and stories meet purpose.

Each week focuses on a core storytelling element—character, setting, plot, dialogue, emotion, and revision. Through creative prompts, discussions, and reflection exercises, students explore fiction, poetry, memoir, and other genres that give voice to their lived experiences. Activities are structured to be inclusive, with room for individual expression and collaboration.

We emphasize learning by doing. That means students are writing in every session—not just learning about writing, but actively creating. They’ll also engage in peer sharing and instructor-guided discussions to help build confidence and learn how to receive feedback constructively. Every session includes time for students to read aloud, revise, or share insights in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.

Every voice matters here—and every story starts with the courage to write it down.

By the end of the program, students will have completed multiple short pieces, refined a signature project, and developed the tools to continue writing independently. Participants will also receive custom Fourth Pov writing journals and may be invited to submit their work for publication in our youth zines or literacy showcases.
